The hotel is only recently opened, so it is very clean and modern. The staff is good, although the language barrier can cause a few issues, but overall a lovely hotel , with helpful staff in a good central location.

The hotel was quite new or recently renovated. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The location is walking distance from most attractions and plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.

Our family of four stayed in one family room. This hotel was an oasis of peace and especially friendliness in the middle of hectic Hanoi. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful; they even sent a driver to pick us up at the trainstation at 4.30 am without us even having asked for it ! We also used the hotel as a hub for luggage dropoff and laundry during our visits to the mountains and the coast, and the hotel was extremely cooperative here as well. Lastly, they were very helpful in offering us a late afternoon shower after we had checked out. All in all and despite minor drawbacks: highly recommended !
Minor drawbacks are that the beds are quite hard (as they always are in Vietnam) and that there is no swimming pool (only very few hotels in central Hanoi do).

Very good and welcome staff
The hotel is new but renovation is done not very good. Thus, it was not very comfortable when the door locker didn't work and there was no hot water in the morning to take a shower

The manager was very helpful booking trips etc. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The location in the Old Quarter was perfect. Excellend value for money.
In the building next door they were renovating and making a lot of noise during the day.

We booked 3 rooms. Had some confusion regarding booked room on arrival not having a balcony as advertised by Booked.net and then when we were given our rooms one room had a malfunctioning aircon and the other poor water supply. Although we had to convince! the hotel staff that the aircon was not working, we were eventually changed rooms the next day and things were fine. Currently there is construction happening next door which will prevent any sleep-ins but Hanoi wakes up early so shouldnt be a problem. Hotel staff went out of their way to rectify problems that they could for us eventually and provided free airport transport and delayed checkout for us all in apology

Hotel staff is fantastic. Always had a smile and were ready to help. From reception to restaurant staff to housekeeping they could not have bêen gentler and kinder.
Location perhaps while within the old quarter ứa not really in the middle of it. I would have preferred a more central location within the old quarter although not the hotel's fault.

Right in the middle of the city centre; lively surrounding; real city atmosphere. Extremely friendly staff. Excellent breakfast served.
Unfortunately reconstruction in building next door caused early noise every morning (including Sunday). Good but limited facilities in the hotel.

We initially stayed at the Calypso for 2 nights when visiting Hanoi. The greeting was as friendly as we have ever recieved, and the staff could not do enough. We got a lovely little room in the top of the hotel. Clean, tidy, great bed, TV, free internet, and a great bathroom. The hotel is located right in the middle of the old quarter in Hanoi, and is ideally located if your wanting to explore the old quarter and further afield. After our 2 nights we have booked a further night, and after visiting Halon Bay and Sa Pa we have arrived back today. As second visitors, we have now been given an upgrade to a huge room overlooking the street, so overall absolutley delighted with this hotel. For 40 dollars a night, you wont get much better in Hanoi.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The manager Kevin is very involved and helped us book our tour to Halong bay and was keen on giving us advice about the city. Though there were no rooms available on the morning we arrived (and then left to Halong on) he let us have a nice breakfast and a shower in the staff room. When we checked out we were also allowed to keep the room a bit longer to perfectly fit our schedule. The hotel also arranged reliable transport to the airport, and the nice lady at the front desk went into town to pick up our water puppet tickets herself. There was a small misunderstanding at the beginning, and he did everything he could to resolve this and upgraded us to a bigger room. The hotel furnishings are lovely and new, the beds are comfortable and not as hard as the ones in many hotels! The fresh mango and passion fruit juice at breakfast is a very nice touch, since most hotels in this category only serve out-of-the-box. I recommend the chicken burger for breakfast :)
The lady serving breakfast could be friendlier, she seems to be the only staff member that practically doesn't smile.
